About the Course

The Graduate Certificate of Business is a one-semester course providing students with essential business skills and knowledge. It opens job opportunities in a wide range of businesses. Graduates are ready for many different positions in business.

Also designed as an introduction to the Graduate Diploma of Business and subsequently, the Master of Business, the Graduate Certificate of Business provides the opportunity for students to develop skills in marketing communications, economics and effective management principles. Graduates will also be better prepared for further study if they choose to progress in their professional prospects and business skills.

Entry Requirements

Academic Admission Requirements

Entry is available to applicants who meet the following conditions:

  • A recognised Australian (AQF Level 7) or equivalent Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • A minimum of five years of relevant work experience, which includes at least three years of management experience, or significant technical experience; OR
  • An Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree (AQF Level 6) or learning equivalent to an AQF Level 6 qualification and at least three years relevant work experience; OR
  • Completion of the Graduate Certificate stage at the Institute (or equivalent at a recognised HEP or University)

English Language Requirements

Satisfactory English language proficiency demonstrated by either:

  • An English pass level in an Australian Senior Certificate of Education (Year 12) or equivalent; OR
  • An Australian diploma of higher qualification: OR
  • Attainment of a specified level of achievement in a recognised English language test, such as IELTS (or equivalent) at a score of at least 6.5 (with no individual band score less than 6.0); OR
  • TOEFL IBT: Overall score of 75. Section score no less than 17 TOEFL Paper-based 550 or better overall with minimum TWE of 4.5 ; OR
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE): Overall score of 54 (no section score less than 46); OR
  • University of Cambridge - Advanced (CAE): Total score of 169; OR
  • Duolingo: overall 115 with no band less than 110.
  • Evidence of satisfactory completion of an accredited tertiary award in English.

English Language Test results are valid for two years from the date of the results up to the date of commencement at the Institute. The most recent test supersedes ALL previous tests.
